Anchor Peter Jennings died yesterday at his home in New York City. He was 67. On April 5, Jennings announced he had been diagnosed with lung cancer. I never knew, but then how could I? I don't watch the news much. It is weird. Because I grew up with Peter Jennings on the news. So had my parents. I had gotten use to the idea that Peter Jennings would always be there reporting the news. I liked Peter Jennings. I think it was his voice. It was always so calm and smooth. He will be missed.

Jennings was one of the first journalists to report from Vietnam in the 1960s.

Jennings anchors from Cambodia in 1990.

Jennings, NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw and CBS News anchor Dan Rather attend The Museum of Television and Radio's annual gala on Feb. 19, 2004. In remembering Jennings, Brokaw said the three had been together on so many stories that they had become friends.
